Domain Name FAQ

Where can I find more information about your domain name registration service?
You can find more information at our http://www.registrations.co.za website.

Where is the catch if Telkom offer com/net/biz/info registration at R1014 while you offer it for R115?
There is no catch and we earn 90% profit on com/net/biz/info domain registrations while Telkom earn 1590% profit. There is NO difference whatsoever between our services because domain name registration is domain name registration.

This might however not be 100% accurate because we register such domains within hours or even minutes after payment was made while I am not so sure whether it is possible for Telkom to do it so fast or not.

Do you register domain names in our own name or your name?
Unlike many other ISP’s we register domain names in the name of the client and never in our own name.

I was alarmed to find out that my domain name has been registered in the name of my ISP and not my own?
This is quite a common problem in the CO.ZA domain. The registrar continually urges ISP's and other agents not to register domain names in their own names if they are acting on behalf of a client. The correct way would be for the "True" Applicant (The company instructing the ISP, and being the company who ultimately makes regular use the domain name) to be listed in the domain name particulars as the " Applicant", and possibly the Administrative contact. The ISP's particulars can be included as the Technical Contact Person.

What can I do about above?
You can either request your ISP to immediately change the ownership (Registrant information) into your own or alternatively transfer the domain to other ISP like ourselves that register domain names in the name of their clients and not their own.

I have discovered that someone has registered a domain name similar to mine and is now offering identical goods and/or service on the associated web site. What do I stand to do?
The best possible solution would be to contact an attorney so that he/she may assess the merits of your case and provide you with a suitable course of action. Please note further that UniForum SA cannot assist you in this regard as we are prevented from doing so due to our Terms & Conditions (specifically clause 9.1)
